Pharmacotherapeutic group : ophthalmic agents. Alpha adrenomimetics.
Dosage form : sterile eye drops.
Release form : transparent colorless solution, polymeric dropper bottle, cardboard box.
Vasoconstrictor and anti-edema action.
Active ingredient :
- tetrizoline hydrochloride, 0.5 mg.
Auxiliary components :
- benzalkonium chloride;
- boric acid;
- sodium borate;
- sodium chloride;
- disodium edetate;
- purified water.
VisOptik is a local drug belonging to the group of α-adrenostimulants. It has a pronounced anti-edema and vasoconstrictor effect. Helps reduce conjunctival edema, eliminates tearing, burning sensation, soreness of the mucous membrane of the eyes. The effect of the use of the drug develops within a few minutes, persisting for 4-8 hours.
The drug is a local application has a low absorption, and therefore its activity does not correlate with the concentration of active substances in the blood plasma.
Indications for use
- Irritation, itching, swelling, hyperemia of the mucous membrane of the eyes associated with the influence of negative environmental factors;
- Injection of the vessels of the sclera;
- Conjunctivitis of allergic origin.
- Individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
- Bacterial infection of the eye;
- The presence of a foreign body in the eye;
- Endothelial epithelial dystrophy of the cornea;
- Children's age up to 3 years;
- Acute cardiovascular failure.
Dosage and administration
The Visoptik solution is recommended to be introduced into the lower conjunctival sac of the affected eye, in the amount of 1-2 drops, 2-3 times a day. For more effective distribution of the drug over the entire surface of the cornea after instillation it is recommended to blink intensively. The therapeutic effect lasts for 4-8 hours. If within 48 hours no improvement is observed, the drug is recommended to cancel.
Immediately after applying the tool can be blurred vision, which passes quickly.
Not recommended for use in combination with other ophthalmologic drugs and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (including if the drug was taken in the previous 14 days).
It is given with special care to patients taking antihypertensive drugs and tricyclic antidepressants. With simultaneous use with guanethidine, the development of mydriasis (pupil dilation) is possible, accompanying temporary visual impairment.
In case of overdose of the drug (this happens in case of accidental or deliberate oral administration), pupil dilation, cyanosis of the skin, convulsive and feverish condition, hypertension, dyspnea, pulmonary edema are possible. With excessive absorption of imidazoles, CNS depression, drowsiness, hypothermia, bradycardia, collapse, apnea, coma are observed.
Particularly high risk of overdose of eye drops in young children who have swallowed the drug. To date, the specific antidote is not defined. Sorbents are prescribed as therapeutic symptomatic agents, gastric lavage, oxygen inhalation, anticonvulsant and antipyretic agents are performed.
Eye drops Visoptik is recommended for use only with mild irritation of the mucous membrane of the eyes. In all other cases, prior consultation with a specialist is required. Persons wearing contact lenses are strongly recommended to remove them before using the product. Re-installation is allowed 15 minutes after instillation. It is not recommended to use the product in case of a leak in the bottle.

Store in a dry, protected from light, out of reach of children at a temperature of 15-25 C. After opening the bottle, the tool should be used within 30 days.
The shelf life of the drug is 5 years from the date of issue. After the expiration date indicated on the package, the drug is not allowed to use.
