Pharmacological properties of the drug
One tablet of the drug Vitrum contains the daily rate of vitamins and minerals necessary for the full life of an adult.
This vitamin complex increases the resistance of the human body to viruses and various infections, protects against the negative impact of environmental facts, free radicals. Vitrum tablets will be prescribed to patients with insufficiently balanced nutrition, frequent diseases, while taking antibiotics or after surgery for the purpose of speedy recovery of the body.
Vitamin A, which is part of the preparation, is directly involved in metabolic processes, supports the function of vision and has a beneficial effect on the skin condition. With a lack of this vitamin in the patient's body, severe dystrophic processes, visual disturbances, painful cracks appear in the corners of the mouth and on the fingertips.
Vitamin E is involved in the processes of tissue respiration, carbohydrate and fat metabolism, supports the full functioning of the organs of the reproductive system of men and women. With a deficiency of vitamin E in the body of a woman is often observed miscarriage or infertility, the lack of it in the body of a man causes a violation of spermatogenesis. Vitamin E is a natural powerful antioxidant and protects the cells of the human body from the negative effects of free radicals and ultraviolet radiation.
Thanks to vitamin D3, which is part of the preparation, calcium absorption by the body and absorption of phosphorus are enhanced. With a deficiency of this vitamin in patients, brittle bones, brittle nails and hair loss are observed. A lack of vitamin D3 in the child’s body leads to the development of rickets.
Vitamin K is involved in the processes of blood formation and metabolic processes in the body. Its deficiency leads to an increased inclination of the patient to bleed and severe disruption of the liver.
Vitamin C, which is part of the drug, strengthens blood vessels, increases the protective functions of the body, is actively involved in redox processes. A deficiency of vitamin C in the body leads to impaired synthesis of the hormone insulin by the pancreas, decreased immunity and full absorption of iron.
Vitamin B1 has a beneficial effect on the work of the heart muscle, central nervous system, endocrine glands, takes an active part in metabolic processes.
Vitamin B2 provides the synthesis of erythrocytes and hemoglobin, affects the work of the central and autonomic nervous system, normalizes bile formation, supports the full functioning of the organs of vision. Vitamin B2 deficiency in the patient’s body leads to impaired liver function and insulin production by the pancreas.
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is an indispensable component in the work of the nervous system, carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism, improves the processes of tissue regeneration, helps the absorption of vitamin B12.
Vitamin B12, which is part of the drug, has a direct effect on the synthesis of erythrocytes and the absorption of iron in the small intestine, takes an active part in the body's metabolic processes, normalizes the nervous system and the liver, and activates the blood coagulability.
Folic acid, which is part of the Vitrum tablet, stimulates the maturation of red blood cells and hemoglobin, and is actively involved in the synthesis of amino acids and redox processes. A lack of folic acid in the human body leads to a violation of the absorption of iron, the development of hypoxia of organs and tissues. The lack of this substance in the body of a pregnant woman causes the formation of severe malformations of the nervous tube in the fetus.
Calcium, which is part of the preparation, takes an active part in the formation of bone tissue, improves the contractile ability of the heart muscle, improves blood clotting and the transmission of nerve impulses. Calcium deficiency in the human body leads to the destruction of tooth enamel and the development of osteoporosis - a disease accompanied by increased bone fragility.
Phosphorus is the main component of nucleic acids and tooth enamel. The lack of this trace element in the human body leads to a deterioration in calcium absorption, impaired heart function, tooth decay and bone fragility.
Magnesium, which is part of the Vitrum tablet, ensures the full functioning of the nervous system, reduces the amount of acetylcholine, normalizes metabolic processes and the transmission of nerve impulses. A lack of magnesium in the body leads to cramps of the calf muscles, increased irritability, nervousness, insomnia.
Part of the preparation Vitrum chlorine, maintains the constancy of the internal environment and the water-salt balance in the body.
Iron is an important component of hemoglobin, which takes an active part in blood formation processes and ensures the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to organs, tissues and cells.
Copper is involved in redox processes, protects cells from the negative effects of free radicals.
Zinc is actively involved in metabolic processes, RNA and DNA synthesis, and insulin production. In addition, zinc ensures the full functioning of the thymus gland and the formation of T-lymphocytes.
Iodine is the basis of thyroid hormones. Normalizes brain and mental activity, improves the functioning of the heart and blood vessels. Iodine deficiency in the body leads to the development of severe thyroid diseases.
Indications for use
Vitrum vitamins are prescribed to patients for the treatment and prevention of the following conditions:
- Frequent viral or infectious diseases;
- Weak immunity;
- The period of increased need for vitamins and microelements - against the background of postponed chemotherapy, operations, with increased physical and neuropsychic loads;
- Unbalanced and inadequate nutrition;
- Apathy and weakness, fatigue and loss of vitality;
- Violation of the digestive function, resulting in deterioration of the absorption of vitamins and minerals from food;
- Against the background of treatment with antibiotics or other drugs.
Vitrum drug can not be taken in patients with the following conditions:
- Individual intolerance is part of the drug components;
- Gallstone and renal disease;
- Hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria;
- Chronic diseases of the liver and kidneys, accompanied by a violation of their function;
- Active form of tuberculosis;
- Peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer in the acute phase;
- Lactase deficiency;
- Thrombophlebitis ;
- Children's age up to 12 years;
- Violation of metabolic processes in the body;
- Severe lesions of the mucous membrane of the small intestine;
- Gout ;
- Heart failure in decompensation stage.
Dosage and administration
According to the instructions, Vitrum is prescribed to adults and children over 12 years old, 1 tablet 1 time per day. The drug is recommended to immediately swallow during a meal, without chewing, drinking a sufficient amount of liquid.
The duration of the course of therapy is at least 1 month, after which the doctor decides whether to discontinue or prolong treatment depending on the severity of hypovitaminosis and the individual characteristics of the organism.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Vitrum tablets can be prescribed to pregnant women and nursing mothers only under the supervision of a physician. It is necessary to strictly observe the dosage specified in the instructions and at the same time not use at the same time preparations of iron, calcium and other multivitamins in order to avoid overdose and the development of serious side effects.
As a rule, Vitrum is well tolerated by patients, and only in some cases, side effects may develop:
- Allergic skin reactions, urticaria ;
- Disorders of the chair.
With an increase in the recommended dose or the simultaneous use of similar vitamin complexes, patients quickly develop symptoms of drug overdose, which manifest as follows:
- Dizziness, headaches;
- Increased nervous irritability;
- Pain in the kidneys;
- Changes in the clinical picture of blood - hyperkalemia, hypercalcemia, increased hepatic transaminases, hyperglycemia;
- Disruption of the thyroid gland;
- Dry skin;
- Gastritis ;
- Hair loss;
- Tremor of the limbs.
If these symptoms appear, treatment with the drug should be immediately stopped and consult a doctor. Treatment of overdose consists in washing the stomach of the patient and conducting symptomatic therapy.
Interaction with other drugs
With the simultaneous use of Vitrum vitamin complex with other multivitamin preparations, the patient's risk of severe side effects and overdose symptoms increases sharply.
The use of Vitrum tablets simultaneously with sulfonamides and tetracyclines can lead to a deterioration in the absorption of iron and calcium by the walls of the small intestine. Vitamin C, which is part of the drug, on the contrary, increases the therapeutic activity of antibiotics.
Simultaneous use of the drug Vitrum with antacid or enveloping agents can lead to a decrease in the therapeutic effect of the multivitamin complex due to a violation of absorption.
During the period of treatment with Vitrum, the patient's urine can be painted in a bright orange color, which is the norm and does not require discontinuation of therapy.
Patients with impaired liver, kidney, and thyroid glands, as well as diabetics, are not treated with this vitamin complex or are prescribed with special care under medical supervision.
