Vitabact is a drug that is prescribed to patients for the treatment and prevention of inflammatory eye diseases.
Drug release form and composition
Vitabact preparation is produced in the form of eye drops in plastic dropper bottles of 10 ml. The drug is packed in a cardboard box.
The main active ingredient of the drug is piloxidin, 1 ml of drops contains 0.5 g of the active ingredient. Also, the composition of eye drops includes a number of excipients: purified water, anhydrous dextrose, Polysorbate 80.
Pharmacological properties of the drug
The main active ingredient of droplets, pilyoxidin, is a compound of the biguanide group. This drug has a powerful antiseptic property, removes signs of inflammation and fights infectious pathogens. Vitabak drops are highly effective against pathogenic cocci, shigella, viruses, fungi, Escherichia coli, chlamydia.

Indications for use of the drug
According to the instructions, Vitabact eye drops are prescribed to patients for the treatment and prevention of the following conditions:
- Inflammatory and infectious eye diseases - keratitis, blepharitis, conjunctivitis, dacryocystitis;
- Inflammation of the eyes due to reproduction of chlamydia;
- In order to prevent the development of the inflammatory process after surgery on the eyes;
- For the purpose of prophylaxis, one-time with close contact with a person with viral conjunctivitis.
Contraindications to the use of the drug
Vitabak drops are not prescribed to patients for the treatment of eye diseases with individual intolerance to the main active ingredient or other components of the drug. There are no other contraindications for the drug.
Dosage and administration
This drug can only be used as directed by the doctor. The duration of the course of therapy and the daily dose is determined by the doctor depending on the severity of the inflammatory or infectious process of the eye, the presence of complications and the individual characteristics of the patient.
According to the instructions for the preparation, eye drops are instilled into the conjunctival sac, 1-2 drops, 2 to 6 times a day, depending on the indication. Wash hands with soap and water before instilling the product. If on the patient's eyelashes, dried crusts of an abnormal eye discharge have accumulated, before applying the drops, they should be carefully removed with a cotton swab dipped in boiled water or an antiseptic solution in the direction from the outer corner of the eye to the inner. Use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Vitabak drops are allowed to be used for the treatment of eye diseases for women in the period of carrying a child. The treatment is carried out strictly under the supervision of a physician in the minimum effective therapeutic dosage. It is forbidden to use this drug without prior consultation with an ophthalmologist; Vitabact drops are prescribed to pregnant women only when the expected benefit to the mother exceeds the risk to the fetus.
The use of eye drops during lactation is possible under the supervision of a physician.
The drug is well tolerated by patients when used properly. With individual hypersensitivity during Vitabact therapy, the following side effects may develop:
- Burning eyes;
- Increased tearing;
