Vicair is a tablet medication that acts on sensitive nerve endings. Sodium hydrogen carbonate and magnesium carbonate alkalize (reduce the acidity) of gastric juice, suppressing the activity of pepsin (a digestive enzyme that destroys the protective factors of the gastric mucosa).
The rhizome of aira has an antispasmodic effect, reduces the intensity of convulsive muscle contractions and pain in the stomach.
Under the influence of bismuth subnitrate, an original protective film is formed on the surface of the mucous membrane, protecting the organ from self-digestion. However, this active ingredient reduces the severity of inflammation and suppresses the activity of the Helicobacter pylori bacterium, which is the main cause of gastric ulcer development.
The buckthorn has a laxative effect and helps to eliminate constipation, very often accompanying a hyperacid gastritis .
The drug is adsorbed in the digestive tract. Partially excreted by the kidneys, mostly - together with feces, in the form of sulfide. Systemic absorption of the drug is not observed. Due to the complexity of the composition and the presence of plant components in the tablets, it is not possible to determine the pharmacokinetic properties of the drug with the help of existing laboratory techniques.

Dosing and Administration
Vikair is tablets for internal use, which are recommended to be taken 3 times a day (1-2 pcs.) After meals, washed down with a glass of warm water. If the diet recommended by the attending physician is followed, the duration of the course of treatment is 1-3 months.
In rare cases, there is an increase in stoolness. This condition is easily eliminated by reducing the single dose of the drug. It is possible to develop an allergic reaction (itchy skin, rashes), tongue pigmentation, swelling of the gums and eyelids, reduction of hemoglobin in peripheral blood, headaches. When taking Vicaira, the feces acquire a darker color (this is not a reason for canceling the treatment). With prolonged use of the drug, due to accumulation in the tissues of the nervous system of bismuth, the development of encephalopathy is possible.
With the simultaneous use of Vikirair with other antiulcer drugs, a dose reduction is recommended.
When interacting with antibiotics of the tetracycline series, bismuth, which is part of the tablets, reduces their absorption.
With simultaneous use in bismuth containing preparations, there is a sharp increase in the concentration of this element in the blood.
Overdose of the drug may cause the development of acute renal failure. However, this condition can provoke nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. If there are any negative symptoms, stop taking the medication and seek medical advice.
