pharmachologic effect

The plaster Versatis is a topical anesthetic drug (anesthetic). Its main active ingredient is the chemical acetamide derivative - lidocaine. It has a membrane stabilizing effect on nerve cells (neurocytes) and fibers. Due to this, lidocaine blocks the conduction of nerve impulses along the fibers of the sensory nerves and has an anesthetic effect.

After fixing the patch on the skin, lidocaine is adsorbed into it, the subcutaneous tissue and deep tissues, accumulates there, in a concentration sufficient to develop an anesthetic effect. Partially absorbed into the systemic circulation, but when properly applied, its concentration in the blood is insignificant and does not have a systemic effect on the body.

Indications for use

The plaster Versatis is indicated for use as a symptomatic remedy for the pain syndrome accompanying this pathology:

  • Diseases of the spine, in which there is an infringement of the sensory fibers of the roots of the spinal cord in the area of their exit from the spinal canal - osteochondrosis, hernia or protrusion of the intervertebral disc, tumor compression of spinal roots.
  • Myositis is an inflammatory process (often aseptic) in the striated muscle, due to local hypothermia.
  • Neuralgia - inflammation of the nerve fibers of different nature (infections, aseptic inflammation).
  • Postherpetic neuralgia - residual inflammation in the nerve fibers after shingles.

The effectiveness of the use of the patch Versatis in these diseases depends on the individual threshold of pain sensitivity of the person and the depth of localization of the pathological process and nerve fibers.

Contraindications

The use of the patch Versatis is contraindicated in such pathological and physiological conditions of the body:

  • Individual intolerance or hypersensitivity to lidocaine (including the presence of allergic reactions to this compound in the past) or auxiliary components of the patch.
  • Violation of the integrity of the skin - in the case of applying the patch, lidocaine in larger quantities can be absorbed into the blood and lead to the development of a systemic effect.
  • Children's age up to 2 years is a high probability of absorption of a large amount of lidocaine into the systemic circulation with the development of appropriate body reactions.

Before starting to use the patch Versatis, you must ensure that there are no contraindications.

Dosage and administration

The Versatis transdermal therapeutic system is used topically. The patch is applied directly to the site of pain projection on the skin. One patch is fixed for up to 12 hours. It can also develop an allergic reaction to lidocaine in the form of a skin rash, itching, urticaria (rash and swelling on the skin, resembling a nettle burn). Sometimes it is possible that severe allergic reactions develop in the form of angioedema of the Quincke (marked swelling of the skin and subcutaneous tissue in the face and external genital organs) or anaphylactic shock (development of severe multiple organ failure and a progressive reduction in systemic arterial pressure).
