Venoruton is a preparation that has an angioprotective and venotonic effect.
Form of issue and composition
The drug Venoruton is available in the form of gelatin capsules for internal use. Capsules with instructions are placed in a cardboard package, 20 and 50 capsules in a package (10 pieces per blister). Other forms of release - tablets effervescent for internal use, gel for external application.
The main active ingredient is hydroxyethylrutosides. 1 capsule contains 300 mg of the active ingredient.
Auxiliary components: gelatin, titanium dioxide, macrogol 6000, iron oxide yellow dye.
Pharmacodynamics. Venoruton is a derivative of the routine. It exhibits venotonic and angioprotective properties, it acts mainly on venous vessels and capillaries. Suppress the aggregation of red blood cells. Reduces inflammation, normalizes the nutrition of tissues. Reduces the severity of clinical manifestations of chronic venous insufficiency - puffiness and pain syndrome, trophic disorders, seizures, varicose ulcers.
Venoruton reduces the clinical signs of hemorrhoids - itching, pain, bleeding.
Also, the drug, having a positive effect on the stability and permeability of the capillary walls, inhibits the development of diabetic retinopathy. Rutozid influences the rheological properties of the blood, thereby preventing microthrombosis of the retina.
Pharmacokinetics. After ingestion, the active substance is absorbed from the digestive tract. The degree of absorption is 10-15%. After 1-9 hours, the maximum plasma concentration is reached. The half-life is 10-25 hours. The main part of the active substance and active metabolites is excreted in the bile, 3 to 6% of the compounds are excreted by the kidneys.
Indications for use
Indications for the appointment of Venoruton can be:
- Chronic venous insufficiency;
- Postphlebitic syndrome;
- Trophic disorders, provoked by varicose veins;
- Trophic ulcers;
- Hemorrhoids , accompanied by pain syndrome, itching, exudation and bleeding;
- Lymphostasis after sclerosing therapy and removal of varicose veins (as an auxiliary in complex therapy);
- Retinopathy due to diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension and atherosclerosis (as an auxiliary in complex treatment);
- Venous insufficiency or hemorrhoids during pregnancy (may be prescribed only from the second trimester).
The drug is contraindicated:
- In the first trimester of pregnancy;
- With increased sensitivity or individual intolerance to rutozides or one of the auxiliary components.
Dosing and Administration
Gelatin capsules are taken internally as a whole, washed down with a sufficient amount of liquid.
The initial recommended daily dosage is 900 mg (1 capsule three times a day). After a decrease in the severity of symptoms (usually occurs after 2 weeks of treatment), the doctor decides whether to continue taking the medication, based on the patient's condition and the effectiveness of therapy. Continuation of treatment is carried out either in the same dosages, or the daily dose is reduced to 600 mg per day. The therapeutic effect of the drug is usually maintained throughout the month.
For treatment of lymphostasis, it is recommended to take Venoruton 3 g (10 capsules) per day, dividing the dose into 3 divided doses.
For the treatment of diabetic retinopathy, 0.9 g to 1.8 g per day (3 to 6 capsules) is prescribed.
Capsules Venoruton usually well tolerated by patients. In rare cases, undesirable side effects are noted:
- On the part of the digestive system - heartburn, nausea, diarrhea;
- From the side of other systems - flushes of blood to the face, headache;
- Allergic reactions - skin rash.
Side effects after the withdrawal of Venoruton quickly pass.
Clinical data on cases of overdose with Venoruton are absent.
If the severity of clinical symptoms does not decrease with the administration of Venoruton, a review of the therapy is recommended.
Simultaneous intake of vitamin C enhances the therapeutic effect of Venoruton.
Pregnancy and lactemia
On the safety of the drug in the I trimester of pregnancy there are no clinical data, therefore, Venoruton is contraindicated in this period.
From the second trimester, the drug can be given to a pregnant woman only in situations where the intended benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risks to the fetus.
