The drug Vasoket is a drug with a pronounced venotonic effect, which is prescribed to patients for the treatment and prevention of varicose veins.
Form of formulation and composition of the preparation
The Vasoket preparation is produced in the form of oblong tablets of a yellowish-gray color with a horizontal strip in the middle on one side. The drug is packed in blisters of 15 pieces. Each carton contains 1 or 2 blisters.
The main active ingredient is 600 mg diosmin, as well as auxiliary components - starch, povidone, microcrystalline cellulose.
Pharmacological properties of the drug
The main active substance of the Vasoket tablets has a pronounced venotonic effect on the vessels, which means a decrease in the dilatability of the veins. When taking the drug inside, patients have an increase in venous tone, a decrease in stagnant processes, an increase in microcirculation in the vessels. Many patients note a reduction in pain and swelling of the legs - symptoms that are frequent companions of varicose veins. Due to the action of the drug, lymphatic drainage improves, due to which the pathology of the vessels does not progress further, and the general condition of the enlarged veins improves.
Indications for use
This drug is indicated for ingestion in patients with such conditions:
- Progressive varicose veins of the lower extremities;
- Chronic hemorrhoids in the phase of exacerbation;
- Violation of blood microcirculation;
- Prevention of the progression of varicose veins in people with a hereditary predisposition to this pathology.
According to the instructions of the drug Vasoket has a number of contraindications to the use, which include:
- Individual intolerance to the components of the drug;
- Violation of blood clotting, bleeding of unexplained etiology;
- The patient's age is less than 18 years.
Method of administration and dosage
The dosage of the drug and the duration of the course of treatment are prescribed by the doctor, depending on the diagnosis, the severity of the pathological process, the age and body weight of the patient, the individual characteristics of the organism.
According to the instructions to the drug, Vasoket tablets are taken orally before meals without chewing and washing down with the necessary amount of liquid.
With progressive varicose veins or at the initial stage of lymphovenous insufficiency accompanied by a weight and a sense of "filling" the legs, the drug is prescribed 1 tablet 1 time per day from morning to meal. The duration of therapy in this case is at least 2 months.
With the progression of the disease and the appearance of foci with trophic ulcers, the course of treatment with the drug is about 4 months, but everything is strictly individual and discussed with the doctor.
With chronic hemorrhoids in the phase of exacerbation of the inflammatory process, the drug is prescribed to patients at a rate of 1 tablet 2-3 times a day. The tablet is taken with food, without chewing, the duration of the course of therapy is at least 1 week. If necessary, the patient can continue to take this drug for up to 1 month.
If necessary, treatment and prevention of lympho-venous insufficiency in 2 and 3 trimesters of pregnancy, women are prescribed 1 tablet once a day. 2 weeks before the expected date of delivery, the drug is canceled.
Use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation
Vasoket tablets are not prescribed for the treatment of vascular problems in the first trimester of pregnancy. This is due to the lack of reliable data on the safety of the effect of the active substance of the drug on the embryo. According to the conducted studies of teratogenic effects, the preparation for the fetus was not detected.
In the second and third trimester of pregnancy, this drug may be prescribed to women to eliminate the severity and pain in the legs, but only under the supervision of the doctor and in a minimally effective dosage.
The use of Vasoket tablets during breastfeeding is not recommended for women, as there is insufficient informative data on the penetration of active substances into breast milk and their effect on the baby. If it is necessary to treat Vasoket during breastfeeding, it is recommended that women translate the baby into an adapted milk formula.
Side effects and drug overdose
In most cases, the drug is well tolerated by patients. With individual hypersensitivity to the components of the tablet, the following side effects may develop:
- Stomach ache;
- Nausea and vomiting in rare cases;
- The appearance of a rash on the skin.
Cases of overdose with this drug in medicine have not been recorded.
If it is necessary to use Vasoket for the treatment of exacerbation of hemorrhoids, therapy is carried out in complex with other local medications - rectal suppositories, ointments, creams. This will help to achieve maximum therapeutic effect and quickly alleviate the patient's condition.
In medicine, there is evidence that the drug in some cases was prescribed to women in 2 and 3 trimesters as part of complex therapy for fetoplacental insufficiency and to prevent the development of bleeding in women who have recently had an intrauterine device.
Vasoket tablets are also prescribed as a prophylactic for the risk of bleeding against the background of prompt removal of varicose veins.
