Valocordin-Doxylamine is a drug prescribed for sleep disorders.
Release form and composition
The drug is produced in the form of drops for oral administration.
1 ml of liquid (22 drops) contains the following components:
- active ingredient - doxylamine succinate in the amount of 25.0 mg;
- excipients - peppermint oil, ethanol 96%, purified water in a ratio of 1.4: 450: 449.7 mg, respectively.
Valocordin-Doxylamine exhibits hypnotic and sedative effects. As a result of taking the drug, the time of falling asleep decreases, the quality of sleep improves and its duration increases. The drug does not affect the phases of sleep. The drug also has antiallergic effect.
The effect of the drug appears 30 minutes after taking it. Duration of action is 3-6 hours.
The drug is very well absorbed and absorbed in the digestive tract. The main part of the drug is excreted through the kidneys, partly with feces.
Indications for use
Valocordin-Doxylamine is prescribed for the symptomatic treatment of recurrent sleep disorders (for example, nighttime awakenings or difficulty falling asleep).
Also, the drug is recommended for rashes, skin itching, allergic reactions. It can be used as a component of the combined drugs in the treatment of cough, colds.
The drug is contraindicated in the following cases:
- pregnant and lactating women;
- with individual intolerance to some components of the drug;

- urine retention;
- not recommended for children under 6 years old as an antihistamine and for children up to 16 years old as a sedative and hypnotic.
The drug is intended for oral administration. For sleep disorders and insomnia, adults are prescribed 15-25 mg 30 minutes before sleep.
For the treatment of allergic reactions take 25 mg every 4-6 hours. The maximum dosage per day is 150 mg.
The duration of treatment is 2 weeks.
In the case of taking the drug in a dose exceeding the therapeutic rate, the following overdose symptoms may occur:
- cramps , tremor;
- anxiety, depression, drowsiness;
- orthostatic collapse, lowering blood pressure;
- facial flushing, hyperthermia;
- dilated pupils;
In this situation, symptomatic treatment is carried out, artificial respiration is done, anticonvulsant drugs are prescribed.
The drug contains alcohol, so it is dangerous for patients with functional disorders of the liver, epilepsy, alcoholism, for children and pregnant women.
Since the drug can cause drowsiness, it is necessary to avoid work associated with rapid motor and mental reactions, as well as not driving a car.
During treatment Valocordin-Doxylamine may increase inhibitory action on the central nervous system for parallel reception of barbiturates, antidepressants, clonidine, benzodiazepines, neuroleptics, narcotic analgesics, sedatives, anxiolytics, thalidomide, pizotifenom, central antihypertensive agents.
The simultaneous intake of m-anticholinergic drugs increases the risk of the following side effects - constipation, urinary retention, dry mouth.
Alcohol increases the sedative effect of many antihistamines, therefore, when using Valocordin-Doxylamine, you should avoid the use of drugs containing alcohol and alcoholic beverages.
Storage conditions and shelf life
The drug is recommended to keep in a cool place out of reach of children. You can use the drug for 3 years from the time of its production.
