The drug Betaserc is an analog of histamine of synthetic origin.
Form of formulation and composition of the preparation
Betaserk is available in the form of rounded tablets of white or almost white color, convex on both sides. The drug is available in dosage of 8, 16 and 24 mg of active ingredient.
The main active substance of the drug is beta-histidine dihydrochloride, as well as auxiliary components - talc, citric acid, silicon dioxide, cellulose, mannitol.
Pharmacological properties of the preparation
Betaserc tablets are a drug that, when ingested, improves microcirculation of the blood in the ear maze. The drug is widely effective in the presence of the patient's violations of the vestibular apparatus, ringing in the ears, dizziness caused by the pathology of the vestibular apparatus.
After taking the pill, the main active substance of the drug is quickly absorbed through the mucosa of the digestive canal in the blood. The maximum concentration of the drug is observed in the blood plasma after 2.5 hours after admission. The drug is excreted from the body naturally through the kidneys within a day from the moment the pill is taken.
With regular administration of this drug, patients do not become addicted to the drug. In addition, Betaserc does not have a sedative effect on the central nervous system and can be used to treat elderly patients.
Indications for use
Betaserc tablets are prescribed to patients for treatment and prevention of the following conditions:
- Disturbances in the functioning of the vestibular apparatus or the ear maze;
- Noise and ringing in the ears;
- Headaches and dizziness, accompanied by pawning of the ears, hearing loss;
- Nausea, vomiting, arising on the background of pain in the ears;
- Dropsy of the labyrinth of the ear or inner ear;
- As part of complex therapy for atherosclerosis;
- As part of a comprehensive treatment for violations of the brain that occur against the background of the resulting injury or stroke;
- As a part of complex therapy in case of insufficient blood supply of blood vessels in the vertebral area;
- Meniere's syndrome.
Betaserk with cervical osteochondrosis
The use of Betaserka for cervical osteochondrosis makes sense in the presence of vertebral artery syndrome or the presence of vertebrogenic cervicocrany.
Method of administration and dosage
Betaserca tablets are for oral use. The drug should be taken with food, without chewing, and immediately swallowing, drink a sufficient amount of liquid.
The dosage of the drug and the duration of the course of therapy are determined by the physician in a strictly individual order for each patient. This largely depends on the patient's body weight, age, severity of the clinical symptoms of the disease, the severity of the pathology and the presence of co-occurring problems.

Contraindications for use

There is no data on the safety of the main active substance in relation to the developing embryo, in addition, in the first trimester of pregnancy, the entire organism of the unborn child is formed, and the use of any medicinal substances can roughly break this delicate process, causing abnormalities in the fetus.
The use of this drug in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy is possible after a thorough assessment of the benefit / risk. If it is necessary to treat Betaserk, the doctor appoints the future mother a minimally effective dose of the drug, while constantly monitoring her condition, the course of pregnancy and fetal development in the uterus.
The use of the drug in the period of breastfeeding is possible only if the expected benefit for the mother will be much higher than the possible complications for the baby. In order to ensure that the child's body does not get medicinal substances for the period of treatment with this drug, it is recommended to resolve the issue of temporary discontinuation of breastfeeding or the transfer of the baby to the formula.
An overdose of the drug
As a rule, with strict adherence to the dose prescribed by the doctor, cases of overdose are very rarely detected. When self-treatment with Betaserkom, uncontrolled use of tablets, exceeding the recommended daily dose, it is possible to develop the following symptoms in the patient:
- Stomach ache;
- Nausea and vomiting;
- Pain in the temples, dizziness;
- Decrease in blood pressure;
- Tachycardia and increased heart rate;
- Hyperemia of the face, a feeling of heat in the head.
In rare cases, with an overdose, the patient may experience bronchospasm and respiratory depression. When these symptoms appear, the drug should be discontinued immediately and consult a doctor. Patients with an overdose of the drug undergo symptomatic treatment.
Interaction with other medicinal products
The drug is not recommended at the same time prescribed with antihistamines, because in this case, its therapeutic effect is reduced.
