The drug Betamax refers to drugs that exhibit an antipsychotic property.

Betamax is produced in the form of round, biconvex, tablets, covered with a white film membrane.
The main active substance is sulpiride in the amount of 50 mg, 100 mg or 200 mg per 1 tablet.
As auxiliary substances, povidone, crospovidone, microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, magnesium stearate are used.
The main active substance of the drug exhibits antipsychotic property (it is prescribed for psychoses of different origin). Sulpiride suppresses nervous tension in tissues and muscles.
In addition, Betamax has a significant antidepressant, stimulating and antiemetic effect.
The effect of the drug appears 2-3 hours after admission.
Indications for use
Betamax is recommended to be used as the main drug or combined with other psychotropic drugs for diseases such as chronic and acute schizophrenia, depression of various origins, acute delirious conditions, neuroses, migraine, dizziness of various origins (otitis media, traumatic brain injury, Meniere's disease, vestibular neuritis).
The drug is prescribed as an additional therapy for gastric ulcer, 12 duodenal ulcer, irritable bowel syndrome.

Applying Betamax, it is recommended to be careful with the following diseases: epilepsy, arterial hypertension, severe heart diseases, glaucoma, prostatic hyperplasia, irregular menstrual cycle, advanced age, renal dysfunction, hepatic failure, urinary retention, angina pectoris .
Dosage and route of administration
Use the medicine should be in the morning no later than 16.00. Tablets can be taken regardless of eating and drinking with water.
In chronic and acute schizophrenia, acute delirious psychosis, the drug is taken 3 times a day at a dose of 600-1200 mg. The maximum daily dose is 1600 mg, the maintenance dose is 300-800 mg.
With neuroses, reception is carried out 2-3 times a day for 400-600 mg per day.
With depressions of different origin, the reception is 2-3 times a day for 150-600 mg per day.
With dizziness, the dose of the drug is 150-200 mg per day. It is allowed to increase the dose to 300-400 mg per day in severe cases. Duration of treatment - not less than 2 weeks.
With migraines, Betamax is prescribed in a dosage of 100-300 mg per day.
Using with auxiliary therapy in patients with irritable bowel syndrome, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer appoint a dosage of 50 mg 3 times a day. Duration of treatment 1-1,5 months.
To elderly people, during pregnancy, with violations of kidney function, the drug is tried to be prescribed in lower doses, and in the future, the intake is reduced to the minimum amount.

- Central nervous system: sleep disorder, headache, irritability, akathisia, hyperthermia (application of the drug is canceled), extrapyramidal syndrome, late and early dyskinesia (spasmodic torticollis, oculomotor disorders, spasm of the masticatory muscles), anxiety, pale skin, autonomic disorders;

- Other side effects: impaired vision.

The bioavailability of sulpiride is reduced by 40% when taking medications such as antacids with aluminum or magnesium ions and sucralfate.
