Atoris is a lipid-lowering drug from the group of statins.
Active substance of the drug is atorvastatin. Atoris is available in the form of tablets in a dosage of 10, 20, 30 and 40 mg.
As auxiliary substances, calcium carbonate, povidone, cellulose, lactose, magnesium stearate are used.
Atoris promote the provision of such pharmacological effects:
- Reduces the level of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides.
- Increases the content of high density cholesterol-lipoproteins.
- Has anti-atherosclerotic effect - positively affects the walls of blood vessels.
- Helps reduce blood viscosity, normalizes the process of blood coagulability.
- Helps prevent possible rupture of atherosclerotic plaque.
The therapeutic effect of Atoris develops after 2 weeks of regular intake of tablets, the maximum effect of the drug - after 1 month.
Indications for admission
Indications for the admission of Atoris are:
- Development of hyperlipidemia: primary, combined, family endogenous hypertriglyceridemia, resistant to diet therapy, homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia.
- Carrying out the prevention of cardiovascular diseases (primary and secondary). Primary: the drug is used in the complex treatment of patients at risk: people older than 56 years, patients with nicotine dependence, high blood pressure, diabetes, low cholesterol-high-density lipoproteins, genetic predisposition.
Secondary: prevention of possible complications in patients with ischemic heart disease in order to reduce the risk of death, the development of myocardial infarction, stroke.
Atoris can not be used for individual intolerance of active or auxiliary drugs, liver disease in the acute stage (chronic hepatitis, alcoholic hepatitis), liver failure, liver cirrhosis of various origin, with increased activity of hepatic transaminases, skeletal muscle diseases, with lactase deficiency, Lactose intolerance, malabsorption syndrome.
The drug is also not recommended for admission during childbearing, breastfeeding, and patients younger than 18 years of age.
Dosing and Administration
During the entire period of therapy, the patient must comply with the basic principles of the lipid-lowering diet.
Patients with obesity are recommended the following: before starting the use of the drug Atoris should try to normalize the level of cholesterol by the impact of moderate physical exertion and the treatment of the underlying cause of the disease.
Atoris I take inside, regardless of food intake. The initial dose is 10 mg.

The risk of complications increases when Atoris is used in conjunction with fibrates, nicotinic acid, antibiotics, antifungal agents.
The effectiveness of Atoris decreases with simultaneous use with drugs Rifampicin and Phenytoin.
With simultaneous use with antacids, which include aluminum and magnesium, a decrease in the concentration of Atoris in the blood plasma is observed.
Taking Atoris together with grapefruit juice can help increase the concentration of the drug in the blood plasma. Patients who take atoris should remember that the use of grapefruit juice in a volume of more than 1 liter a day is unacceptable.
On the background of taking Atoris, the risk of developing myalgia increases. Patients should be under constant medical supervision. In cases where there are complaints of weakness and the development of muscle pains, the use of Atoris is immediately stopped.
The composition of the drug includes lactose, this should be taken into account for patients with lactose intolerance and lactase deficiency.
Atoris medicine should be used with extreme caution by patients suffering from alcoholism and in the event that there is a history of abnormal liver function.
In the event that there are manifestations of myopathy, the use of Atoris must be stopped.
Atoris can promote the development of dizziness, so during treatment should refrain from driving and activities requiring increased concentration.
