Atoris instructions for use
Atoris is a lipid-lowering drug from the group of statins.
The active ingredient of the drug is atorvastatin. Atoris is available in the form of tablets in dosages of 10, 20, 30 and 40 mg.
Calcium carbonate, povidone, cellulose, lactose, magnesium stearate are used as excipients.
Atoris contribute to the provision of such pharmacological effects:
- Lowers cholesterol-low-density lipoprotein triglycerides.
- Increases high cholesterol-lipoprotein content.
- It has anti-atherosclerotic effect - it has a positive effect on the walls of blood vessels.
- It helps to reduce blood viscosity, normalizes the process of blood clotting.
- Helps prevent possible rupture of atherosclerotic plaques.
Therapeutic effect of Atoris develops after 2 weeks of regular pills, the maximum effect of the drug - after 1 month.
Indications for admission
Indications for receiving Atoris are:
- Development of hyperlipidemia: primary, combined, familial endogenous hypertriglyceridemia, diet-resistant, homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia.
- Implementation of the prevention of cardiovascular diseases (primary and secondary). Primary: the drug is used in the complex treatment of patients at risk: people over 56 years old, patients with nicotine addiction, high blood pressure, diabetes, low cholesterol-high density lipoprotein, genetic predisposition.
Secondary: prevention of possible complications in patients with coronary heart disease in order to reduce the risk of mortality, development of myocardial infarction, stroke.
Atoris cannot be used for individual intolerance to active or adjuvant drugs, liver diseases in the acute stage (with chronic hepatitis, alcoholic hepatitis), liver failure, liver cirrhosis of various origins, with increased activity of hepatic transaminases, skeletal muscle diseases, and lactase deficiency, lactose intolerance, malabsorption syndrome.
The drug is also not recommended for use during childbirth, breastfeeding and patients under 18 years of age.
Method of use, dosage
During the entire period of therapy, the patient must observe the basic principles of a lipid-lowering diet.
The following is recommended to patients with obesity: before starting to use the drug Atoris, you should try to normalize cholesterol levels by exposure to moderate physical exertion and treatment of the underlying cause of the disease.
Atoris take inside, regardless of the meal. The initial dose is 10 mg.
As needed, the dosage can be increased to 80 mg. The exact dose of medication is selected by the attending physician, taking into account the results of the survey and the initial cholesterol level.
Recommended daily single dose of the drug, preferably at the same time. The dosage should not be adjusted earlier than 1 month after the start of the use of the drug.
During treatment, it is necessary to regularly monitor the level of lipids in the blood plasma. The procedure should be carried out at least once every 2-4 weeks.
Dose adjustment for patients of older age groups is not required.
Atoris is used as an auxiliary element of treatment in conjunction with other methods of therapy (plasmapheresis). The drug can also be used as a main component of therapy if other treatments and medications do not have the necessary therapeutic effect.
Atoris can provoke the development of such side effects: headache, dizziness, insomnia, tinnitus, heart palpitations, migraines, development of pain in the chest, constipation, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distention, myalgia, arthralgia, back pain, swelling joints, skin rash, urticaria.
In the case of undesirable side effects, the drug should be discontinued and consult a doctor. You may need to reduce the dose or change the treatment regimen.
With simultaneous use of Atoris (10 mg) with diltiazem (more than 200 mg), an increase in Atoris concentration in the blood plasma may be observed.
The risk of complications is increased in cases when Atoris is used together with fibrates, nicotinic acid, antibiotics, and antifungal agents.
The effectiveness of Atoris decreases with simultaneous use with the drugs Rifampicin and Phenytoin.
With simultaneous use with antacid drugs, which include aluminum and magnesium, there is a decrease in Atoris concentration in the blood plasma.
Taking Atoris in conjunction with grapefruit juice may help to increase the concentration of the drug in the blood plasma. Patients who take Atoris must remember that the use of grapefruit juice in a volume of more than 1 liter per day is unacceptable.
While taking Atoris, the risk of developing myalgia increases. Patients should be under constant medical supervision. In cases where there are complaints of weakness and the development of muscle pain, use of Atoris is immediately stopped.
The preparation contains lactose, this should be taken into account for patients with lactose intolerance and lactase deficiency.
The medicine Atoris should be used with extreme caution by patients suffering from alcoholism and if there is a history of disruption in the normal functioning of the liver.
In the event that manifestations of myopathy are observed, the use of Atoris should be stopped.
Atoris may contribute to the development of dizziness, so for the time of treatment should refrain from driving and activities requiring increased concentration.
The following drugs are analogues of Atoris: Liprimar, Atorvastatin-Teva, Torvakard, Liptonorm. In case of need of selection of replacement it is recommended to consult previously with the doctor.
The drug should be stored in a dark, dry place, protected from direct sunlight. The optimal storage temperature is up to 25 degrees.
