Artrozan is a drug from the group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, selective COX-2 inhibitors.
Release form, composition
The drug is available in the form of a solution for intramuscular administration. The active ingredient is the substance meloxicam. 1 ml of solution contains 6 mg of meloxicam.
The auxiliary substances are: glycine, sodium hydroxide, glycofurol, sodium chloride, water for injections.
Due to its selective effects, the active substance of the drug is least likely to contribute to the development of erosive lesions of the stomach and duodenum.
The active ingredient of the drug helps to provide anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgesic effects.
Indications for use
The indication for the use of injections Artrozan is the symptomatic treatment of the following inflammatory and degenerative diseases:
- Ankylosing spondylitis
The drug does not affect the course of the disease and only helps to eliminate pain and inflammation.
The use of Artrozan is not recommended in case of development of individual intolerance to the active or auxiliary substances of the drug, heart failure, during the recovery period after the procedure of coronary artery bypass surgery, with bronchial asthma and polyposis of the paranasal sinuses.
Among other contraindications include:
- Individual intolerance to drugs that include aspirin, as well as drugs from the group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
- Peptic ulcer of the stomach (acute phase), inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
- The development of bleeding of unknown origin.
- Blood diseases.
- The development of renal and hepatic failure.
Injections Artrozan can not be used during childbirth and breastfeeding, as well as patients under 18 years of age.
The drug is used with caution in patients of older age groups, in the history of which there are violations of the normal functioning of the cardiovascular system (heart failure, coronary heart disease, etc.); in diabetes, smoking, severe somatic diseases, peptic ulcer, as well as in the diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori.
In order to reduce the risk of adverse effects on the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract, the drug should be used in the minimum effective dose for a short period of time.
Method of use, dosage
Intramuscular medication is acceptable during the first few days of treatment. In the future, the recommended transition to oral medication (tablets).
The recommended daily dosage is from 7.5 to 15 mg. The exact dose and duration of the drug is determined by the doctor, taking into account the manifestations of the disease and the individual characteristics of the patient.
Patients who are on hemodialysis and in the history of which there are severe violations of the normal functioning of the kidneys should not exceed the maximum daily dosage of 7.5 mg.
Artrozan is not recommended to mix in the same syringe with drugs of other groups. Intravenous drug administration is unacceptable.
In case of overdose, the development of such adverse reactions is possible: gastric bleeding, nausea, impaired consciousness, vomiting, abdominal pain, respiratory arrest, renal and hepatic insufficiency.

The use of Artrozan injections can contribute to the development of such side effects: dyspepsia, belching, blurred vision, bronchospasm, tachycardia, stomatitis, pruritus, drowsiness, dizziness, tinnitus, headache, urticaria, gastritis, anaphylaxis, edema.
Interaction with other groups of drugs
This drug should be used with extreme caution when used simultaneously with drugs from the group of anticoagulants (Warfarin), antiplatelet agents (Plavix, Clopidogrel), alcoholic beverages, corticosteroids in the form of tablets (Prednisolone), Fluoxetine, Paroxetine.
Artrozan should not be used in conjunction with other drugs from the group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
With simultaneous use with diuretics increases the risk of developing renal failure.
With simultaneous use with drugs from high blood pressure may decrease their hypotensive effect.
When combined with vitamin K, heparin, serotonin reuptake inhibitors and fibrinolytics, the risk of bleeding increases.
With the development of reactions of the body, indicating a violation of the normal functioning of the kidneys (itching and yellowness of the skin, vomiting, dark urine, pain in the abdomen), the use of medication should be immediately stopped and consult a doctor.
Artrozan can mask the appearance of infectious diseases.
This medicine cannot be used as a thrombosis prophylaxis, despite its ability to reduce platelet aggregation.
