Allochol tablets are a group of drugs of plant origin, which establish the process of formation and excretion of bile from the gallbladder. Correct functioning of this organ ensures the full functioning of the liver and reduces the risk of formation of stones or sand in the bile ducts.
Form of preparation and composition
Allohil is available in tablet form and is intended for oral ingestion. The tablet is yellow, covered with a glossy sweet shell. One tablet contains:
- Dry bile of animals (usually pork);
- Extract of garlic;
- Nettle extract;
- Activated carbon.
The drug is produced in blisters for 10, 20, 50 pieces in a package.
Pharmacokinetic properties of the preparation
After using the drug, the drug begins to stimulate the acceleration and intensification of the processes of excretion of bile from the body. Due to the active ingredients included in the tablets, the intestinal peristalsis improves, which helps prevent constipation and develop putrefactive stagnant processes. Allochol tablets normalize the process of bile formation, contractile capacity of the gallbladder, and, accordingly, the functioning of the liver.
Improve the work of the gallbladder and liver contribute to the normalization of the secretory capabilities of the pancreas and 12 duodenum. As a result, useful substances are absorbed from food almost completely, bloating and a feeling of heaviness in the intestines disappear. Complete bile secretion under the influence of Allochol tablets has a slight antispasmodic property, which leads to the elimination of pain in the abdomen and right upper quadrant, nausea and a bitter taste in the mouth.
Indications for use of the drug
Allochol tablets are most often prescribed for medical and preventive purposes such conditions:
- As a comprehensive treatment for chronic forms of hepatitis with the aim of improving the outflow of bile;

Methods of application and dose
Allochol tablets are taken strictly after meals! Categorically it is forbidden to use this medicine on an empty stomach, since the components included in the preparation stimulate also the production of hydrochloric acid and in the absence of food in the stomach this acid will begin to dissolve the mucous membranes of the organ, which will lead to erosive gastritis or peptic ulcer.
Adults take 1-2 tablets of the drug 1 hour after meals for 3-4 weeks, depending on the indications. The number of daily receptions is determined by the doctor for each individual patient, but, as a rule, it is necessary to drink tablets 3 times a day. During an exacerbation of chronic pathologies of the bile ducts, the question of further use of Allochol should be resolved with the doctor, since the dose of the drug can cause an even greater deterioration in the general condition.
If necessary and depending on the indications, the course of taking the drug can be extended to 3 months, after which it is necessary to make an interval of 3 months.
Application of the drug in pediatric practice
Allochol tablets can be used to treat children from the age of 3 years. The dose of the drug, the duration of treatment and the number of daily methods is determined by the doctor. Children as well as adults need to eat before taking medication.
Use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation
Allohol tablets can be taken during pregnancy only if the expected benefit for a woman is higher than the possible negative consequences for the fetus. Despite the fact that the preparation contains only natural components, due to the change in the work of all internal organs, any medicines at the time of bearing are not recommended! During pregnancy, a woman can develop stagnation of bile, resulting in quickly forming small stones. With unauthorized use of Allochol, unpleasant symptoms in a future mother can only worsen, so it is very important to consult with a specialist before starting treatment.
The use of the drug during breast-feeding of the baby should also be agreed with the doctor in advance, since a small part of the medicine is absorbed into the breast milk and can be passed on to the child.
Is it possible to combine Allochol with alcoholic beverages?
The use of alcoholic beverages leads to increased peristalsis of the intestines and secretory abilities of the gastrointestinal tract. In addition, alcoholic beverages enhance the secretion of bile, which, in conjunction with choleretic drugs, can lead to irritation of the intestinal walls and painful diarrhea.
In addition to the above properties, alcoholic beverages can also spasmodize small vessels and bile ducts, which, together with Allochol, can cause gallbladder inflammation, jaundice of the skin and severe pain in the right hypochondrium.
As a rule, this drug is well tolerated by patients, however, with an independent increase in dose or uncontrolled long-term taking of tablets, the following negative phenomena may develop:
- Stomach ache;
- Spasms of the intestine;
- Heartburn, belching;
- Bloating and increased gas production.
In case of individual intolerance to one of the components of the drug, the patient may experience an allergic rash on the skin. As a rule, after stopping the medication or significantly reducing the dose, all the unpleasant phenomena quickly pass without any medical assistance.
Despite the content in the preparation of only natural components, Allochol has a number of contraindications. These include:
- Hypersensitivity of the patient to at least one of the active ingredients included in the tablet;
- Blockage of the bile ducts by concrements (stones) or sand;
- Obstruction of the hepatic ducts as a result of compression of their tumor;
- Acute inflammatory diseases of the liver and biliary tract;
- Gallstone disease in remission, but with stones more than 1 mm in diameter;
- Peptic ulcer of the stomach or duodenum;
- Children under 3 years.
