Release form, composition

Allergodil comes in the form of 0.05% eye drops, which contain 500 μg azelastine hydrochloride.

Additional substances: water for injection, sorbitol, sodium hydroxide and edetate.

Pharmacological effect

Allergodil eye drops are an antiallergic agent used in ophthalmology, a phthalazinone derivative.

The active component of azelastine hydrochloride is a blocker of histamine H1 receptors, inhibits the synthesis and release of mediators of the early and late phases of allergic reactions, thereby providing a pronounced, prolonged antiallergic effect, eliminates tearing and itching.

The drug does not adversely affect the cardiovascular system, azelastine is practically not detected in the blood plasma, even with prolonged use.

The effect after topical application occurs in 15-20 minutes. Swelling and redness of the eyes are reduced, itching becomes less pronounced, the therapeutic effect can last from 10 to 12 hours.

Indications for use

Drug Allergodil prescribed for seasonal exacerbations of conjunctivitis, which is expressed by the following symptoms:

  • burning or itching in the eyes;

  • redness and swelling;
  • tearing or vice versa, dry eyeball.

Allergodil can be used as a complex treatment of infectious lesions of the eye on the recommendation of the attending specialist.

The drug is used in pediatric practice (from 4 years) with exacerbation of allergies. Allergodil can be used as a prophylactic for children from 12 years old and adults (for example, 10-14 days before the start of flowering of plants that cause allergic reactions).

Mode of application

The drug is intended only for instillation into the eyes. With the seasonal form of the disease Allergodil, it is necessary to drip 1 drop in each eye 2 times a day (in the morning and in the evening). In cases where the symptoms of conjunctivitis are pronounced, the medication can be increased up to 3-4 times a day.

Allergodil can be taken as a prophylactic agent, before contact with the allergen is planned.

Contraindications
