Ointment Actovegin significantly accelerates the process of wound healing by increasing cellular energy metabolism. It can be used both for a variety of inflammatory processes, and for the treatment of burns, wet ulcers and skin reactions after exposure to radiation.
Form of issue and composition
Actovegin ointment is available in tubes of 20, 50, 100 and 30 grams. The concentration of the active ingredient is 5%. The ointment is placed in aluminum tubes with autopsy control. Secondary packaging - cardboard packaging with information about the expiry date and series of production. In each carton box there is one aluminum tube and detailed instructions for the use of the drug.
The active component is the blood components in the form of deproteinized hemoderivat of calves' blood. In 100 grams of ointment contains 5 ml of this substance. In addition, Actovegin ointment contains such additional elements: white paraffin, cholesterol, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, purified water, cetyl alcohol, and methyl parahydroxybenzoate.
Indications for use
It is recommended to apply Actovegin ointment in such painful conditions:
- wounds of the skin or mucous membranes, inflammatory lesions on them;
- wetting wounds and sores;
- ulcers on the skin of varicose origin;
- decubitus. Their prevention and acceleration of healing;
- burns with chemicals in acute stage;
- scratches, cracks, sunburn;
- burns of skin with steam or boiling substances;
- when exposure to radiation, prescription of Actovegin ointment is possible for maximum prevention of possible reactions from the skin.
Actovegin ointment can be used in the therapy of nursing women and pregnant women. The only contraindication to use is the hypersensitivity reactions to any auxiliary component or the main active substance.
Dosing and Administration
Ointment is used strictly externally. The course is about 2 weeks and can be continued until the wound is completely regenerated. Recommended frequency of application - twice a day.
With inflammatory lesions of mucous membranes and skin, as well as with ulcers, it is necessary to use "three-stage therapy". After the course of Actovegin in gel form, use Actovegin cream, and then Actovegin ointment. It should be distributed in a thin layer.
To ensure the prevention of pressure ulcers, it is recommended to rub the ointment into areas on the skin with an increased risk of their formation.
Application of a thin layer of ointment Actovegin immediately after the performed radiation therapy creates protection of the skin from radiation damage. Such prophylaxis should be repeated in the intervals between irradiation sessions.
If the effect of using the ointment is considered inadequate by the patient, the doctor should be consulted to adjust the treatment course.
The drug is very well tolerated. Rare individual reactions of allergic origin were noted. Sometimes, at the site of application, the patient may feel a burning sensation or an itch.
Information about the concurrent use of the ointment of Actovegin with other medications does not exist.
Actovegin ointment analogues
The only analogue of this drug is Solcoseryl ointment, which has the same main active ingredient.
Terms and conditions of storage
Do not use the drug after the end of the term of validity. Storage is allowed for 5 years. The recommended temperature regime is not higher than 25 degrees Celsius. Ointment Actovegin should be stored in the factory packaging away from children.
