The main active ingredient is de-proteinized calf blood calf 5 ml, which is about 0.2 g at the dry weight calculation.

Pharmacological properties of the preparation
Actovegin cream promotes the activation of metabolic processes in tissues, which leads to a significant improvement in regeneration processes. When the cream is applied to the skin surface, the cellular metabolism is activated by increasing the supply and accumulating glucose and oxygen by the cells. This process causes the acceleration and intensification of the processes of ATP generation, which increases the energy capacities of the cells. Also Actovegin cream when applied to the skin strengthens the blood circulation in this area.
In the course of clinical trials of the drug it was found that when applied to the skin the Actovegin cream is not practically absorbed into the common bloodstream, which is especially important for people who have disorders in the work of the kidneys, liver or other internal organs.
Indications for use
The main indications for the external use of Actovegin cream are:
- Varicose veins of the lower extremities, which is accompanied by neglected trophic skin ulcers or other disorders of the peripheral circulation;
- Bedsores in bedridden patients, which are difficult to treat with other drugs of local influence;
- Microcracks of the skin;
- Wounds and ulcerative skin of various origin;
- Skin lesions, which were formed under the influence of radiation therapy in cancer patients;

Methods of application and dosage of the drug
Actovegin cream is for external use. Before applying the drug on the skin, you need to make sure that they are clean. To treat skin burns, cracks or lesions on the background of radiation therapy, a thin layer of cream is applied, which is applied 2 times a day.
If it is necessary to regenerate the skin with open deep ulcers and wounds, Actovegin cream is applied twice a day with a thick layer, after which the lesion is covered with a sterile or simply clean gauze dressing. This is necessary in order to prevent the ingress of dust and dirt into the wound. When wet wounds and ulcers, this procedure should be done not twice a day, but three times after pretreatment of the affected area with hydrogen peroxide or another antiseptic.
Actovegin cream perfectly heals skin burns and minor wounds, moreover, the active substance of the drug prevents the appearance of scars on the skin, provided that the treatment is properly and timely started.
With the goal of preventing bedsores in a bedside patient, Actovegin cream is applied 2-3 times a day during the patient's turning in bed, skin massage, changing of bed or underwear.
To prevent the appearance of skin lesions on the background of radiation therapy Actovegin cream is applied to the exposed areas of the thin layer immediately after the end of the therapy session or in between courses.
The duration of therapy is determined by the doctor, but as a rule, the use of Actovegin does not exceed 10-14 days.
