Aktipol is an antiviral agent used in ophthalmology and is the inducer of endogenous interferon. Aktipol has regenerative and antioxidant properties.
Composition and form of release
This medication is made in plastic bottles of 5 ml for local use. In each bottle there is 0.07% solution of para-aminobenzoic acid. Auxiliary substances of the drug are: water for injection and sodium chloride.
Aminobenzoic acid is very effective, which is caused by its complex effect on enzymes and restoration of their activity.
This drug can increase the production of interferon (a protective protein that is produced in the body to fight infections that have got into it).
Aktipol stimulates the regeneration of the cornea, regulates the water-salt balance and has a radioprotective effect. At the same time, it has no teratogenic, embryotoxic and mutagenic effect on the body.
Since the drug is applied topically, the active substance is rapidly absorbed and has a therapeutic effect.
Indications for use
This drug is used to treat such diseases:
- Conjunctivitis caused by the ingestion of viruses (adenovirus, herpes simplex, herpes zoster);
- Keratopathy of post-traumatic, infectious, postoperative origin;
- Keratoconjunctivitis and keratouveitis, provoked by adenoviruses;
- Burns and trauma to the tissues of the eye;
- Dystrophic lesions of the cornea and retina.
Also the use of Aktipol is prescribed by specialists for chronic eye fatigue (caused by prolonged work at the computer) and discomfort after prolonged wearing of contact lenses.
Recommendations for use
This drug is used to conduct instillations in the conjunctival cavity a few drops, from 3 to 8 r / s. For parabulbar, subconjunctival and retrobulbar injections, a solution of 0.3-0.5 ml is used. The course of therapy from 3 to 15 injections.
With herpetic keratitis (surface form), injections are applied at intervals of 1-2 days, together with instillations 4-8 times a day. More precisely, the correction of the course of treatment is carried out by the treating specialist.
