Aksamon: instructions for use
Aksamon is a reversible inhibitor of cholinesterase, which increases the conductivity of pulses in the neuromuscular synapse and CNS, resulting from blockade of the potassium channels of the membrane. Its use increases the effect of acetylcholine, histamine, adrenaline, oxytocin and serotonin on smooth muscles.
In one tablet of the drug Aksamon contains: 20 mg of ipidacrine hydrochloride monohydrate, which is an active component. Among the excipients 1 mg of calcium stearate, ludipress - 65 mg, sodium carboxymethyl starch 14 mg.
Pharmacological effects, which possesses Aksamon:
- Improving memory, stopping the progressive development of dementia;
- Stimulation and improvement of neuromuscular transmission and impulses in the NS;
- Increased contraction of smooth muscle organs, which are affected by agonists of different receptors;
- Improved conductivity in peripheral NA, which is impaired by local anesthetics, antibiotics, trauma.
This drug does not affect the human endocrine system.
The drug is characterized by rapid absorption at the / m and subcutaneous injection. The maximum concentration of the drug in the blood is observed after 20-30 minutes after it was injected. The agent quickly enters the tissues of the body and 40-50% binds to blood plasma proteins.
The process of metabolism takes place in the liver. Removal of the drug mainly occurs through the kidneys and extrarenally.
The half-life of Aksamon with out-of-gastric administration is several hours. After such an introduction, the third part of the drug is excreted unchanged in the urine.
Indications for use
This drug is used for such indications:
- The recovery period after organic lesions of the central nervous system, in which there is impaired movement, bulbar paresis and paralysis;
- Polyneuropathy, neuritis, myasthenic syndromes, polyneuritis, myasthenia gravis, polyradiculopathy;
- Complex treatment and demyelinating pathologies;
- Encephalopathy of various genesis, senile dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
Special instructions for use
The use of Axamon is not comparable with the use of alcohol and activities that require increased attention and reaction. It is undesirable to use the drug for drivers, people with diseases of the cardiovascular system, ulcers, thyrotoxicosis.
The medication is taken only on the prescription of the attending physician and under his constant supervision.
The drug is dispensed by prescription.
Contraindications to the use of this drug are:
- Angina pectoris ;
- Mechanical obstruction of the urinary tract or intestine;
- Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
- Age to 18 years;
- Disorders of the vestibular apparatus;
- Exacerbation of peptic ulcer of the stomach or duodenum;
- Lack of lactase;
- The period of breastfeeding and pregnancy;
- Extrapyramidal disorders with hyperkinesia;
- Intolerance to galactose.
Use the drug with caution follows with such violations of the body: acute respiratory disease, thyrotoxicosis, intracardiac conduction disturbed, remission period of a stomach or duodenal ulcer.
Dosage and methods of application
The drug can be used orally, subcutaneously and intramuscularly. If the peripheral system is disturbed, 20 mg are prescribed, which are applied 3 times a day. For the pathology of Alzheimer's, the dosage is prescribed by the attending physician and can vary from 10 to 20 mg, 2 or 3 r / day. Myasthenic syndrome, demyelinating lesions of the NA, myasthenia gravis is treated with a dose of 20-40 mg, 4 to 5 times a day. The maximum daily dose is 200 mg. The course of treatment depends on the severity of the pathology and can range from 1 month to a year. Large doses of medication should be taken at a small interval (2 to 3 hours). Atonia of the intestine is treated with a dosage of 15-20 mg, 2-3 r / d, for 2 weeks.
In fact, in all cases, this drug is well tolerated by the body. But there are cases of manifestations of side effects, among which may be:
- Painful sensations in the chest;
- Skin rashes;
- Convulsions ;
- Decreased appetite;
- Intestinal peristalsis;
- Lowering of temperature;
- Tremor of extremities.
In cases of drug overdose, there may be such manifestations as: arrhythmia, lacrimation, vomiting, a sense of anxiety and panic, spontaneous urination and defecation, a sense of fear, lowering of arterial pressure, narrowing of the pupils, coma, general weakness, intracardiac conduction, nystagmus.
In case of overdosage, it is recommended to wash the stomach, use m-holinoblokatory (methocinium iodide, atropine, trihexyphenidyl), conduct symptomatic therapy.
When used in conjunction with drugs that depress the central nervous system, there is an increase in sedation. Increased side effects occur when combined with m-cholinomimetic drugs and cholinesterase inhibitors.
This tool in use with various cholinergic drugs in myasthenia increases the risk of cholinergic crisis.
The use of β-adrenoblockers increases the risk of bradycardia.
The use of such a drug and the use of alcoholic beverages lead to an increase in side effects.

The drug is available in the form of tablets and a solution for administration. In the package 5 plates of 10 tablets (20 mg). For subcutaneous and intramuscular injection, 5 ampoules per pack of 1 ml each are dispensed.
Shelf life of the drug is 3 years from the date of manufacture.
